Design / Engineering
From initial quote to final delivery, Basic Tool Inc will assist your company to meet your needs in a timely and efficient manner.
Quotes required for any project and design recommendations will be provided if needed to make parts and molds as efficient as possible.
Once the mold is awarded, design feasibility will be preformed to ensure the mold is produced correctly and to identify correct draft angles, poor conditions or if critical components may be required to improve cooling and cycle time. Our engineering expertise focuses on advanced product design, material selection, and prototyping. We have decades of experience working with a wide range of products.
Design is performed utilizing Visi Cad-Cam software. Design is fully 3D. Most popular formats can be read. Catia, UG, Step, x_t, JT, Iges, Solid Works, Cadkey, dxf/dwg. All designs will be reviewed with our customer online with Goto Meeting or in person if required. Designs are done according to customer requirements and specifications.
Program Management will oversee your mold build from start to finish and offer a full range of support. Timelines can be provided on a weekly basis along with pictures if requested. Our team is hands on and will always be able to inform you of mold status at anytime.
Our program managers are technically skilled to oversee the design reviews. They use CAD software to track and manage your tool build during the manufacturing process. Supplementary services such as tool certification checks and text fixtures, testing and texturing, are available in house.

Basic Tool has implemented many new machines to insure it can build and repair molds of all sizes. Our highly skilled machinists use high speed machining practices and a combination of CNC machines, tooling, computer software and hardware to achieve the desired results you require. Basic Tool is fully equipped to provide mold repairs, maintenance, and modifications to various types of tools. We can provide routine maintenance, warranty work, tool refurbishment, welding, and polishing of tools, including those requiring extensive rework.
Two trucks are available for handling of molds. Volvo up to 34,000 pounds and Ford F550 up to 9,000 pounds. Basic Tool will handle trucking up to 600 miles/1000 km from Windsor and can provide same day service for emergencies if required.
